Frequently Asked Packaging Questions
Straight answers on the things we're asked most. If your question isn't here, drop us a line.
What's your minimum order quantity?+
For folding cartons we typically start at 500 units for digital short-runs; litho jobs start economically at around 2,000. Labels can go lower — as few as 500 on digital rolls and 100 on sheets. If you're not sure what your quantity should be, tell us the SKU and we'll advise.
How long does a job take?+
Production time depends on the product. Once artwork is approved, sheet labels typically take 3–5 working days, roll labels 7–10 working days, and cartons 10–12 working days. Delivery is separate: next-day within Gauteng, 48 hours to major centres, and 72 hours to outlying areas across South Africa.
What artwork format do you need?+
Print-ready PDF/X-4 with 3mm bleed, all fonts outlined, and any spot/Pantone colours specified. Native Adobe Illustrator files are also welcome. If you don't have artwork yet, our design team can produce it — see the packaging design service.
Do you provide dielines?+
Yes. Standard dielines are available for common carton and label formats. If your product needs a custom-drawn dieline — a unique shape, size, or structural design — this is available at an additional cost, quoted based on the complexity of the structure
What materials do you print on?+
For cartons, we print on a range of board stocks suited to retail, food, cosmetics, and pharmaceutical products, with finishes such as matte lamination, gloss, foiling, and spot UV available through our specialty finishes division. For labels, we work with vinyl, paper, and BOPP (polypropylene) substrates, chosen based on your product, application, and durability requirements.
Do you handle delivery?+
Yes. All orders are delivered through our trusted courier partners. Delivery is next-day within Gauteng, 48 hours to major centres across South Africa, and 72 hours to outlying areas.
Can you do foil stamping and embossing?+
Yes. Foil stamping and embossing are available through our specialty finishes offering, applied to both cartons and labels to give your packaging a premium, retail-ready finish.
Can you match my Pantone colour?+
Yes, though the approach depends on the print method. Litho printing uses dedicated Pantone spot inks for an exact match. Digital printing uses a CMYK plus Pink ink set, which extends our colour gamut and lets us match a significantly wider range of Pantone shades than standard CMYK alone — though a small number of spot colours may still fall outside what's achievable digitally. We'll confirm the best match method for your specific colour at the proofing stage.
